Roll a Die
You are dead! Yes, that's sad, but you have a chance to turn back to life. But a life can't be spared without first pleasing the Death with other deaths.
You have a deal: play Death's game, try to survive the Death Dungeon but die! Death will play with you rolling a dice, well rolling a Die, to choose the way you must die to satisfy his thirst. Everytime you die by the will of Death you come back with an award, in Death words "you get AwarDead for your dead", a step back to life and a step forward to damnation.
This roguelike game has been created for Weekly Game Jam 130: "Dead is Awarded"
- Design, Programming and Art by Marco 'thebaddie' Sidoti
- Music by Steve Combs
How to Play
- Move using ASDW or Left Analog Stick
- Shoot in 8 directions using Arrow Keys or Right Analog Stick
- Start/Continue: Spacebar or Joypad Button
Rules
- Each time a new dungeon starts, Death will tell you by which element you must die
- Find the enemy that matches the element (Air, Blood, Earth, Fire, Void, Water; it's just one enemy type for each element) and be killed by it to gain a reward (increase damage, increase speed...)
- Survive to any other enemy
- Each time you die by the right enemy you get a damnation level, the dungeon is randomly generated again (with more rooms and more enemies) and the element you must die by changes

Can you stop calling your game a roguelike. The term roguelike refers to games of strategy, tact, turns, tiles. Of games that are "like Rogue". This simply is not.
LOVED the update! :) Thanks for reaching out and letting me know. Here is my second video of the (updated) game. Can I FINALLY do it?! Haha, great job; keep up the great work! :)

Honestly a good game. It took me a while to grasp what enemies were (fire, blood etc.) but after that hurdle the game was pretty straight forward. The ending was quite cryptic though and i think an endless mode would be very cool.
Thank you :) well the original idea has been way limited by the short game jam time, so I had to cut out a lot of stuff. I'm planning to work on a full version but first I'd like to have the more feedback on the idea I can
A great game! I love it so much!
I'm glad you enjoyed it and thank you for the kind words :)
I gave the game a shot and it's a cute game. That being said, game hard crashed after level 7. That and the fact that there wasn't a "tutorial" stage for me to understand which monster dealt the elemental death I needed. Beyond that, game's interesting.
Here's my channel for other games I have played. http://www.youtube.com/c/Levont
In your video it looks like you have some sort of "auto fire" on, you should be able to choose when to shoot and do it in 8 directions, something is going wrong for some reason. You're right the development time was so short that the game lacks of a proper ending or intro. Also the enemies/diyng mechanic was way semplified compared to my originale idea. Maybe I'll keep working on the game to move it from this demo stage to what I originally had in mind. Anyways thanks for playing and for your video review :)
Cool concept! I especially liked the cute and scary enemies.
It was a bit too hard for me though. I kept dying to the wrong enemy as soon as I enter a room. Maybe if the enemies were not too close to the door, I might be able to fight them.
Thank you :) I tried to keep enemies simple to speed up the animation process due to the jam deadline but with a clear style in mind. I will consider your advice about enemies spawn for a next update
